Thank you Charlotte. Dolly was the best of us. She exemplified Christianity. She never judged - at least not publicly. I say that because I did not know her personally.
You did her justice in this post. It brought me some comfort in my grief. Again, thank you.
You are the first to make me cry in what I anticipate being a long list of tributes to Dolly Parton. Her open heart was the best I’ve ever seen.
Almighty God, Father of mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
I've been in tears on and off since I heard the news. I'm not surprised you had this out almost immediately. All we can do is keep following her example -- as you do, continually.
You know how sometimes — not often — crying from grief feels just right? Painful, oh yes, with a bit of pissed off and lost, but just right. Sitting here still in shock, hearing this sad news from you first; and glad that it came through you and your beautiful, plain-speaking tribute. Thank you, as always, Charlotte. 💔
Perfection Charlotte. Pure perfection. Dolly led with her heart- heart first. And to be an extraordinary business woman, humanitarian, and wordsmith of songs. I’m going to miss Dolly, my personal example of a true Christian (I rarely capitalize that word, but for Dolly? DAMN RIGHT) and we all fall short of her example, so my agnostic/atheist self has always had an example of how to live, not what to believe. And for that one distinction I’m so very grateful for her example.
Beautifully put. I was walking the dog when I saw the NYT newsflash; we stopped and I instinctively crossed myself and prayed for the repose of her soul. What an extraordinary human being. Thank you for this tribute.

Yes, the wrong 80 year old. Again.
.
Charlotte, that last absolutely perfect sentence... thank you for having the words.
Beautifully written, thank you. I have loved Dolly Parton all my life, her light will be missed. She is the Christian I wish I could be.
Charlotte, thanks for reminding us of Dolly Parton's grace, humility, and extraordinary talent. And above all, how truly loving she was.
Beautiful tribute.
Than you Charlotte-you said it all and exquisitely, with tenderness and love. God bless you.
Thank you, Charlotte☮️💜
