I am glad you are able to be authentically yourself.
I was reminded by your statement about non-trans people being constrained by our culture forcing them to be who they are not 'all in service to a painful and unnecessary gendered framework that insists on an unforgiving rigidity solely meant to avoid discomfort based on irrational fear' of something that happened when I was in college. After a discussion about women's liberation at the Methodist student center I said to the minister that I appreciated feeling freed to be the person I wanted to become. He said something to the effect that, of course, we are all women or men first of all. I replied that I thought of myself first as a person who happens to be a woman. He seemed to find this rather worrisome and insisted, "But you're a woman first of all."
I am so profoundly grateful for all that you are. I mean, I quote you pretty much on a daily basis :) Thank you doesn't come near properly conveying my admiration and appreciation.
Yes! This so much! Existing as one's authentic self is always difficult, and that's why I'm also so amazed and inspired by the trans community. To be that strong and courageous, what would it be like? And what would it be like if we could all easily be our authentic selves, because why should it be hard? Thank you for this piece and for being who you are!
The statement "I exist today in my authenticity" is so deep, moving, honest, and pure.
So many love, admire, and respect you, Charlotte. Count me in!❤️
Yes! If everyone felt free to be their authentic selves, our world would be so much happier.
