"I think this is Trump being petty over Mr. Hank's politics and getting revenge."
Agreed. It's merely a matter of figuring out which bizarre Trump quirk Hanks triggered. A few possibilities:
1. Hanks is a staunch environmentalist who both owned the EV1, GM's first electric car back in the '90s, and narrated the subsequent documentary about it: "Who Killed the Electric Car?" (Irony of course noted.)
2. He hit the Democratic-support trifecta: Obama, Hillary *and* Biden. (If anything, this may be too obvious of an answer.)
3. Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were among the first, if not *the* first, well-known celebrities to contract Covid, back in March 2020, which isn't helpful for Trump while RFK Jr. continues attacking anyone who points out his batshit vaccine fuckery.
Nonetheless, I suspect the answer can be found in the article below:
Namely the note accompanying his gift of an espresso machine: "Keep up the good fight for the truth, justice and the American way. Especially for the Truth part.”
It astounds me that trump actually has people scouring the news/internet for opportunities to screw people. His pudgy, tiny fingers are everywhere. Such a petty, little man.
Stupid, gullible, racist, misogynist . . . I regularly curse out the 77 million who voted for him, but I save plenty of bile for the Supreme Court, the Republican Party, the billionaires and mega-multimillionaires supporting them, and others. I'm pissed off at Biden and the Democratic Party too, but they're way down the list and my bile supply is limited.
Don’t forget the role Tom Hanks played in “Philadelphia’ — a gay attorney with AIDS who’d been fired by his law firm. Also, I don’t find the colonel’s words vague - he’s parroting Hegseth’s warrior/lethality BS either willingly or because of pressure. The last few days have given us an obscene, a-historical, and ludicrous fantasy conjured up by a draft-dodger and a supporter of war crimes.
"...this has Trump's fingerprints all over it." I would posit that it actually has Donnie's greasy pawprints all over it! What a bloated, disgusting, simulacrum of a human being.
Agreed. Tom Hanks is a real patriot whose life has honored the United States and our military. This is truly a cheap and disgusting act. Of course Trump and Hegseth were behind it.
Col. Bieger's "incredibly vague reasoning" might be a masterpiece of tact and diplomacy -- where it's important to pay close attention to what isn't said as well as what is. Trump is, hard as it is to believe, the commander in chief.
I've no idea what was in the colonel's mind, but reneging on an invitation this close to the last minute is beyond rude, and the fact that it's so public makes it worse. He was put in a terrible position, and I doubt that's going to be lost on anyone connected with West Point.
Agreed. Tom Hanks is one of the good ones.

Of all of the myriad factors Trump should not be president his petty vindictiveness&jealousy might be close to the top.
I blame the people stupid enough to vote him in for a 2nd term.

No doubt they will replace him with someone embarrassingly horrendous.
So…breathtaking…needy.

Think of Hank’s’ performance in Saving Private Ryan, for example… what a disgusting display of pettiness!!
Yeah… the spineless sycophants who do his bidding will throw anyone under the bus if they make widdle Donny dipshit throw an orange tantrum
Frump can be more thinned skinned but I'd rather not see it.
I don’t think Trump really wants to go to Heaven after all

Thank you for posting this Charlotte.

Grift, revenge and cruelty. That’s all this administration knows.
