Yay Charlotte! Include me in on "Team Shut the Hell Up and Listen" (T-shirt would be great Merch)
I recall many years ago hearing an Anthropological Biologist say that Humans have evolved to recognize the immediate threat in front of us......long term thinking of consequences is really not our "strong suit". I think we see that in just about every crisis we are currently facing. It makes me sad.
"Almost 80 years ago, we won World War II and we’ve seen all the movies and despite the vast majority of us not even being alive during that time, that’s somehow enough to declare ourselves exceptional and above the responsibilities of an informed and engaged citizenry in world events."
Not only that, but in an act of absolute intellectual dissonance (if intellect is something even in play) this bit of history also seems to have absolved a good chunk of the American population of any knowledge of *why* that war was fought, and entitles them to happily embrace a particularly narcissistic form of totalitarianism.
Well said Charlotte - THANK YOU! I wish Americans would employ better critical thinking re: life in general but definitely before posting comments on subjects about which they are clueless. I appreciate the links you provided too.
I am definitely a charter member in good standing on “Team Shut the Hell Up & listen.” This is one of the many reasons I follow you & constantly learn from you. Thank you once again.
