Yes. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I too love my country. Thank you for your service. And for caring and using your voice to help make this a better place.

Thanks for capturing the struggle between a patriotic belief system, and the disappointing reality of how the system is currently (not) working for many of our neighbors and friends, and therefore all of us. It helps to think of the flag as representing the promise and hope of the ideals it used to mean for me, rather than letting the current darkness take ownership of it. Thanks for helping me mentally take back the flag!

Charlotte, this touched my heart in so many ways. I am sitting listening to the Boston Pops 4th of July concert and wondering what happens if the worst happens. Do we still celebrate the 4th? Thanks for being the brave voice, the proud voice, the kind voice.
