Yes! This is exactly right. I’m beyond frustrated with the lack of righteous anger. And I’m still receiving fundraising text messages and emails. Really? Really? DO SOMETHING. SAY SOMETHING TO MEET THE MOMENT. There are millions of us looking for leadership. The moment only lasts a moment. ACT NOW. SPEAK NOW.
Yes! I actually said something similar to my husband last night. I said "if our house was on fire, would you and I tell the kids to sleep on it and we'll deal with it tomorrow? No, we'd put the damn thing out right away. This is the problem with our government right now." Great minds think alike, Charlotte!
100% agreed. I'm the most frustrated by the Schumers, Durbins, and Jeffrieses that insist on playing it safe in the wake of two destructive weeks from Trump and his thugs.
The country is on fire, Democratic leaders. Damn well act like it.
The only ways -- so far -- that I can see justifying their "cautious" approach would be:
1) They are "keeping their powder dry" until #convictedfelonTrump lays ALL his cards on the table before they up the ante and can take aim when they can "see the whites of his eyes; " or
2) they realize this is going to be a long, ugly slog (because it IS) and are saving their energy for the legislative phases of BS that are just beginning to brew. ("We ain't seen nothin' yet...")
A little more righteous indignation ("let righteousness roll down like waters," etc.) WOULD be nice to see, of course.
I received an email from my congressperson saying, “Send me a note and let me know how trump’s actions are affecting you.” Are you kidding me? No, YOU take your colleagues, set up a daily press conference on the Capitol steps (as you mentioned earlier, Charlotte) and loudly tell every American how trump’s policies will affect US! That’s your JOB. What were the action items that came out of that congressional emergency meeting? Has anyone received the memo?
Perfect analogy. It sure feels like that's exactly what they're doing--watching us burn.
I will say that I've gotten a couple of mailings from Heinrich, mentioning actions he's taking. But he's not saying it very loudly outside his newsletter base, that's for sure.
Charlotte I'm squarely in the Democratic Party my wife is the current President of our High Desert Progressive Democrats club but I feel like we've been betrayed by the Democratic Leadership and it's imperative that we start finding direction and leadership that will help us save our democracy, stop the horrors that are coming. Billionaires have been planning this COUP D'ETAT for decades and they're reaping the rewards and nobody seems to want to stop them. We need leadership and actions.
A wonderful post, Charlotte: well said! There is no time for Schumerisms these days and I'm not sure we can afford to "go high" any more, either...
OTOH, there is NOTHING keeping US from raising our voices in "righteous anger" (Thanks, Julie Field!), so why don't WE make some noise? (We do still have the First Amendment and free speech -- at least so far...)
Thank you so much for this. I just shared it with a high schooler, who seems to have a much better understanding of the situation than many of our elected officials.

I move all mine To SPAM. I don't have any money, to keep giving away to people who are not doing their jobs.
Yes Charlotte!! Thanks so much for this. We need outrage accompanied by actions, ideas and plans to move forward to save our country.

Amen, sister!

Yes!!! I’m so disappointed in the VA Senators who are voting to approve the insane cabinet nominations being put forth!!

Love you, Charlotte... so very much. This... exactly this. <3
Real freaking talk! I’m kinda embarrassed to call myself a Democrat right now. Wake the f up and LEAD!

I am sending this to my senators and as many others as I can. This is the best thing I’ve read.

Let's grab some buckets, gang!
I feel like nothing matters to anyone in a position of power/ability to take action. It's surreal.

Yes, yes, YES!!!!
