“You have subverted the free press right before a presidential election in which one of the candidates is aggressively totalitarian in outlook, and you now pretend to be surprised at the shock and outrage.” — I absolutely love this sentence!

Charlotte - I don't believe William Lewis, either. We cancelled our digital subscription of many years yesterday and are probably headed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution instead.

Poor Katherine Graham must be spinning in her grave at 90,000,000 EPM over Bezos' betrayal.

Jeff Bezos is s chickens**t coward for not writing and signing his own "whitewash" to "defend" his overturning - by fiat and out of fear, greed, or both -- the well-considered decisions of the WAPO Editorial Board. He made the publisher, William Lewis, do his dirty work for him, so shame on both of them.

I feel really badly for the wonderful reporters and editors at the Post. They bear NONE of the responsibility for the idiocy and cravenness in the owner's brain but will bear the brunt of the inevitable layoffs after 200,000 and more subscribers leave.

I totally support what you said Charlotte. I’m wondering if we should consider cancelling our subscriptions to Amazon?

Had we not gotten drunk on Amazon in the first place, maybe none of this would have ever happened. We are learning how much power we actually have. Our votes at the big boxes may prove what really "saves" us.

If it helps, I canceled mine. I'll get over it.

I did this a while ago. I still use Kindle but I get the books from the library and do not buy them. I realize that mileage may vary--I can afford the time and extra dollars to shop Target or local stores. I get that not everyone can do this.

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!

Right on Charlotte! I canceled my subscription for the same reason.

I canceled my Washington Post subscription with some regret; I would like to support the journalists who have courageously written the truth as they learn it. There was no place on the cancelation to state my reasons. I next canceled my Amazon Prime subscription, wanting to be clear (if only to myself) that this is about Bezos and his show of cowardice when he could have made the principled decision to support a free press. There were two different places in that cancelation process where I could state my reasons and make it clear that I do not wish to hurt Amazon workers but want to send a strong message to their boss and the company owner, Jeff Bezos. I already feel lighter about a choice that will push me to buy local, something I endorse but have set aside for convenience. Every time I walk into one of my local stores to make a purchase that I would have likely made at Amazon or seek another vendor with more integrity, I will be reminded that I have a voice. Please consider joining me. Mary

I canceled in July shortly after subscribing. They credited me 50% and my sub runs until next June. I won’t re-subscribe unless bezos changes his tune.

Perfectly said. So glad I discovered you!

I stopped using Amazon years ago because I didn't like bezos. I promise you, you won't miss it. You can search for items you want on Amazon and then go to the brand website and purchase directly from the small business.
