Presumably the rest of us can, given the opportunity, tell Speaker Johnson and the rest of his mob to get stuffed.

Just remember that whenever you wrestle with a pig in a pig sty, you'll end up just as filthy as the pig in the end...

Sarah McBride is my Congresswoman. She is a class act, the real deal. I donated to her campaign, I voted for her.

OTOH, Nancy Mace, in the quiet place of her soul, wishes she could be half the woman Sarah McBride is.

Mary - Thank you for supporting a terrific Representative-elect.

I have seen parents of trans children castigating her for not fighting this but she said what needs to be said. It is appalling that our elected officials are so insecure and idiotic that they are choosing to do this. They WANTED her to fight so, no doubt, they will find another way to attempt to debase her and other trans people in the US

I think hers is the best possible decision. Let them perform their histrionics while she does the work she was elected to do, not legitimizing their bigotry by responding to it.

Though if I was her I think I'd be tempted to put a fainting couch somewhere in the vicinity.

Bravo, Ms. Clymer. My thoughts on the matter exactly.

Hear! Hear! Representative McBride has chosen the path which benefits her constituents and that is why they elected her. Like the parent of a child having a temper tantrum in a public space, McBride has wisely chosen to ignore the toddler like antics of Mace and her ilk.

Well said Barbara!

Sarah McBride is a class act. No one would ever say that about the MAGA clowns. Their motto seems to be “Make America Cruel Again.”

In my last job I worked with a trans person. They were one of the best co-workers I ever had the pleasure to work with: very professional, helpful, and kind. If they hadn’t said they were trans, I would not have been aware. I had no problem using the same bathrooms. Anyone who feels this is an issue is ignorant.

Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride is the person I would want representing me. I’m here in North Georgia. I will be sending her positive energy and much love. Thank you, Charlotte, for all you do to educate and empower me, a 63 year old mom and grandma. You are an inspiration and a blessing to me. Love you💜

So, it’s actually come down to a pissing contest?

That was very well said! The Congresswoman need not burden herself with this ridiculous manufactured issue. She has more important things to do. If only the MAGA Republicans had some worthwhile ways to spend their time rather than sowing division and hatred at every turn.

I’m with you, Charlotte.

Charlotte - As always, you offer us wise words in contrast to the vitriol and fear-mongering from RethuggliKKKans like Rep. Mace and Speaker Johnson. (Just HOW does the Speaker plan to "enforce" rules such as the one he announced today, anyway? Panties police? Mandatory gene-testing for X and Y chromosomes before you can pee? And who will pay for all that foolishness?)

I find it fascinating that Christo-fascist Republicans claim that there are "only two" "biological" genders when biologists have actually discovered several verified -- and not uncommon -- genetic, psychological, and other "gender" variations in human genotypes. (You cannot base your "science" on the "evidence" in Genesis.)

I keep wondering: who are the real "perverts" in this situation? (My money is on the GOP, because they have fallen victim to a few modern heresies that have led them down this and other foolish garden paths.)

As an active, practicing Episcopalian, I can appreciate that the Bible and science offer different views of the same amazing universe and their respective "truths" do not conflict because I do not accept the triple heresies of a) biblical literalism, b) biblical inerrancy, and c) American exceptionalism. (The first two errors permit the third to exist as well as its close cousin, Christo-fascism.)

I wish Sarah McBride all the best. She earned the right to represent the good people of her district in Delaware and she's certainly off to a great start with her statements in response to the bathroom bullies.

Thank you for your very appropriate comments. Let's support Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride in her decisions. I think attacking a member of Congress elected by her district may receive negative responses from other members. Your leadership is much appreciated

Agreed she chose wisely not to become the poster woman for trans bathroom rights, and just get down to the business of governing. Family friendly restrooms are there for her now.
