Thank you for the detailed review of the bill. There is no question that we need to be laser focused on state races and state judicial races for years to come. These are the new battlegrounds for Americans' rights.

We also need a decades long push to expand Scotus. I'd like to believe it will happen sooner, but that's unlikely.

I'm grateful for the larger than usual youth vote, but it was still under 30% nationwide. A 90% youth turnout would save rights they were born with. Perhaps they can only be reached by other young people.

The poor turnout in CA and NY is particularly alarming. The House could have been saved, but so many people didn't bother to vote in these 2 states. I really don't understand it.

Popular polling on issues is nearly meaningless beacuse of the Senate. The only solution is what has always been the solution: Smash the Senate into pieces.

There's a million and one ways to do it, from having large states split apart to redistribute Senatorial power right up through disolving it entirely, but so long as that body remains as it is structured today, America will *NEVER* be a democracy. We will only be a republic that cosplays as a democracy, and so the will of the people will never actually be heard.

Thanks for the clear explanation of the situation.

Time to lighten up the color over the state of MI! This past July our incredible AG Dana Nessel won a case she brought to the MI Supreme Court to enshrine LGBTQ+ rights into our state's civil rights act.

Thanks for helping to shed some light on the fine details. And a reminder that our senators need to hear from us not only when we disagree, but when we support their actions, so they can continue to do the right thing and not forget who they work for... which is us!

I had NO idea this bill had so many "issues!" Thank you for your explanation.

I read through the bill and I thought it was a cop-out and it certainly doesn't go far enough. However, I was waiting to read your take to see if I was missing something. I agree with you. One thing with politics, if you wait for perfection you end up with nothing.

Coming back here to mention EJ Dionne's op-ed today describing Nancy Pelosi's style --

"If you don’t have principles that define what you’re fighting for, there’s no point to being in politics. But if you’re impractical, you won’t achieve your objectives. You’ll lose."

Thank you, Charlotte -- "But if we do pass this, we'll have protections for millions of families that otherwise wouldn't have had them, and then, we'll keep fighting for more."

Is there a written version somewhere? I'm hard of hearing and can't follow audio, but would like to know what you have to say about this.

I appreciate you breaking it down so well. I don't think Michigan is going to have a tough a time keeping our Senators, though. We're pretty blue here. And the youth vote should not be discounted. They want a better future & turned out in droves. #HopefulinMichigan
