In 1953 the CIA financed a coup against the Iranian Prime Minister, who had been elected under their constitution. This is not conjecture, or a conspiracy theory - it's a well recognized fact. The US got the Shah back in power because he'd do what the US wanted. The oil companies wanted access to Iran's oil. Countries that are thousands of years old have deep memories.
You have precisely described the two realities that currently exist.
One reality is the reality Israel faces: Israel cannot tolerate Iran acquiring nuclear weapons (neither can Europe or the rest of the Middle East) and the current offensive may well be their "last best chance" to prevent that from occurring.
The other reality which the world faces is that the world cannot rely on the United States to act responsibly, smartly and with restraint in Iran.
Thank you Charlotte, for your knowledgeable, articulate and deeply insightful explanation of your title today. I also appreciated your excellent and detailed description of the abominable “military” parade and the exact ways it dishonored and disrespected not only our military but who have ever served and those who’ve died in the service of defending our country - our democracy.
So glad we have your voice in our ears. Keep it up! So glad I found myself caught in Charlotte’s web!!
Demonstrated against both the Iraq wars before we started them. Had a girlfriend who crossed out the Q on her "No war on Iraq" button and wrote in an N. I remember history - why am I condemned to repeat it?
Horrifying. This is what happens when you have idiots running the government.
This is what happens when you have enough idiots to elect them.
Yes so scary! I second that! Thank you Charlotte for a great reporting today!! Tucker Carlson making good sense to me. Impossible!

Charlotte,
Me too. As an Iraq veteran I see yet another debacle on the horizon.
All the best and watch your six.
