This year I received an unexpected email from a young man in the UK. When I met him, he was 14, and trying to convince his parents that he was transgendered. All I really did was accept him, as he was, and encourage him to be true to himself. We had a couple phone calls, and talked online a lot, but it was uplifting to know that I was supporting a kid who needed acceptance. His father called me from the UK to try to discern just why I was talking to his kid - and I told him quite honestly that I just wanted to support a bright, beautiful kid.

Fortunately, his dad understood that I really did want whatever was best for his child. And, the young man wrote me recently to tell me how much my support meant at a time when he really needed it. He's now living his life as he should, and is loved and accepted as the man that he's become over the years. This took place over TEN YEARS AGO. Transgender people HAVE been part of every culture, all over the planet and I'm thinking that it's mostly just the conservative mindset that prevents full acceptance of them.

Bless you, Charlotte, I've followed your journey for a while now & am onboard to continue to support you & the other trans people I meet. <3
