Maybe one thread connecting many of the items in your post is the unwillingness of many to be humble and grateful in the face of something much larger -- the carping critics, the performative hurricane anchors (and/or their assignment editors), the corpsman with a convenient take on military discipline. Even a little gratitude would go a long way -- as would a bit of humility -- to say, this [artistry; weather event; public health crisis] is larger than I am and I'm gonna trust the bigness this time.
