This is why I'm an ally. I may look like a straight white cis male 55yo, but when people open up their hateful mouths based on some misguided assumption I think like them, I set them straight. I will stand next to ANYONE who faces ANY kind of harassment simply for WHO THEY ARE. Been a sub for a while, but just paid to write this. There are WAY more of us than there are of them. You're much more generous of a soul than I am in wishing them any kind of peace. My hope is that come November they'll go back to their basements and keep their friggin mouths SHUT and NEVER again believe they have any kind of agency to spread their message of hate. If they want to keep hating, America will move forward without them. Stay strong!
It's amazing that such hateful people consider themselves to be Christians. As was said last night, you don't lift yourself up by putting someone else down. I'm sorry you had to endure that, especially being tricked like that but, in the long run, it's better to be a bit naive than to be cynical. I hope everything else about the DNC goes well for you and I've enjoyed seeing the photos you've posted.
Charlotte, I'm sending you love and solidarity from Seattle. And since I'm an old white Union carpenter I can't help it, those assholes can f*** right off as they suffer from their terminal cases of dipshit-itis. And, I offer you my devout Catholic Mother's favorite: "there's a special place in hell reserved for people like them"! God bless you my sister. Keep doing what you're doingππ
I'm afraid that when I'm faced with bigotryβespecially aggressive bigotryβI'm more likely to channel my inner Yosemite Sam than my inner Gandhi. Once again, Charlotte, you have reminded me that sometimes grace is knowing when to walk away. Reading your Web Thoughts is making me a better person. Thank you.
Iβm so glad you had people there to shield you. And I have long admired your willingness to give people a chanceβ even though they (at least on one side of the aisle) repeatedly disappoint. You are graceful and dignified, and yet remain approachable. Anyone who misses the opportunity to engage with you sincerely is truly missing out.
I am sorry you had to experience such ignorance and a rejection of your true and beautiful self. You bring wisdom and grace to us with your writing and special view of the world around you. Your piece about participating in a dignified transfer during your service has stayed with me and always comes to mind when we watch one. Thank you for your service. And thank you for sharing your joy and resilient spirit with us. We are with you.
You are in excellent company. Some MAGA supporters have long claimed that President Obama is gay man and that Michelle is actually a man named Michael. How widely that absurd claim is believed by Don (old) Trump supporters would be a good indicator of how detached from reality they really are.
The visual of your friends circling you is such a powerful metaphor for this moment, Charlotte. All of us banding together for unity and strength against those who masquerade bullying as conversation.
You hang in there, girl. Iβm so sorry hateful people keep trying to beat you (and others) down. You should not have to endure that, even once. But I hope you find that every time hate is spewed at you, there will be a larger crowd of people standing between you and the hate, to protect you and show you how much you are valued.
Thank you for all your work to get Kamala and Tim elected.
I am so sorry you experienced that. As always, I am blown away by your grace and kindness. There is absolutely nothing Christ like in the way that dickhead and his friends treated you.
As a fellow Christian woman, I am so glad you had friends who supported you against the hate. They are the miserable ones, theyβre only happy if they hurting someone or something else. Your grace in not engaging with the virulent misguided men who think they are superior to the rest of us is a role model for all of us. You know God loves you, and we do too.

God doesn't condone their behavior. Keep on being a strong, graceful human. We surround you with extra strength and energy πͺ β¨οΈ ππΌ.
Iβm so sorry that people are so awful to you. π
You are a beautiful soul, Charlotte. I'm so sorry you have to encounter such horror. Bless your friends for their care.

Represent!
No one should have to endure such an assault.

I am so sorry that happened to you. Christians in sheepβs clothing.
More like wolves in Christians' clothing.
Yes. I got my metaphors mixed up!!!
