How you are able to write an intelligent article about last evening's dumpster-fire is what separates you from the rest. Thank you for this. I was too busy screaming, "Lies!" at the television. Every person behind a podium last night would gladly sign a national anti-abortion ban, would destroy LGBTQ rights, would eliminate true history from being taught, would gut the EPA and any climate change legislation, would gut the DoE, and would dismantle our federal government (See Project 2025.)
Vivek also has to pretend he didn't say anyone under 25 shouldn't be able to vote - so much for appealing to Gen Z. As you say, he was there just to get his name out so people would quit saying, "who?" You'd think we, as a country, would be done hosting Amateur Hour. The only time I wasn't screaming "BULLSHIT" in my mind (because my SO was tired of me saying out loud) was when Haley was speaking. She's still awful, but not totally insane.
Wow Charlotte I’m just gobsmacked by your insights. However I can’t get my head around how someone as racist as Trump and his Christo Nationalist followers could embrace someone that is a rich, well educated dark skinned Hindu who brings in tutors to homeschool his sons like Alexander the Great?
When I first saw Vivek, I read his CV. Before he had uttered a word, I thought what a polished, articulate, intelligent man he must be. I thought wow, he’s not getting anywhere near the ballot as a Republican. Then I heard him speak. I heard him dumb himself down to appeal to the voting base he would need to have a chance of winning. However, I question the sincerity of his positions and views. It may seem strange to say that someone who says he supports the worst parts of Trump’s agenda, out loud, would be lying about his intentions to do so. It’s possible he’s lying (say it isn’t so!). It’s possible he’s lying and misleading the supporters he’s trying to appease to get votes. Most candidates start out to the far edge of their party with regards to policy, but once elected they move towards the center. Would Vivek move more toward the center if elected? It’s an interesting question.
To be clear, I am an anti-Trump individual. I’m not arguing Vivek is in an way a choice I would ever consider, and I’m a democratic so my views do not align in any way with the Republican Party as it stands today.

Chilling insight. I wonder what Vivek's end game truly is.
