"Calling for unity without true accountability is like bandaging a wound without cleaning it."

This phrase should be emblazoned on the minds of EVERYONE.

Thank you Charlotte, for your honorable insight and a big glimpse into who you are. ❤️✌️

Well said.

I find it very heartening to read reflections from folx benefitting from white privilege that acknowledge how the Black community has been telling us this was coming for YEARS.

I'm listening to Nancy Pellosi's 60 Minutes interview replayed on C-span radio. She describes the horrifying detail about the violence and the implication of intent to harm people must be investigated and everyone brought to account.

Your ability to be so concise yet detailed and refreshingly transparent is incredible!! You first had me at your incredible description of your service duties: bringing our deceased service members. (I don’t read too many folks thread or long posts but I always read yours.) Wishing you all the best!!

Amen Charlotte! And I am with you in the optomist corner. Sometimes I am even annoying to myself 😉

Accountability is everything in this circumstance. We have allowed the bullshit mantras of "moving on", "putting this behind us", and every other trope of ignoring reality to become de rigueur. It is about damn time this country started peeling back the skin on the onion of responsibility and coming to terms with hard to accept truths. It is the only way we can truly move forward to "the America we want".

We must remain resolved to see this through and hold everybody accountable, those who lied, those who incited, those who tried to desecrate our democracy through violence. As a kid I watched the country mourn Kennedy. In the decades since, I have never been this angry , sorrowful, sad or committed. This only starts with impeachment.

And PS I’m second in line for a book from you.
