This is great, happy to support you, I'm always working on book projects, too. I hope you will check out my book, Radical Empathy: Finding a Path to Bridging Racial Divides - it will be out in February! https://policy.bristoluniversitypress.co.uk/radical-empathy
Dr. Givens!!! What a treat to see you here! Yes, I am quite excited for your new book. I'm gonna make sure I ask folks to pre-order this. Thank you for all the labor you do. It's seen and appreciated.
I rarely comment on Twitter (or my other substacks), but it's a new year, and I am determined to say "thank you" more. I have learned so much from following you on Twitter. I teach American History at a community college, but I only knew broad strokes about LBGTQ+ history (especially trans history) before I started following you. You taught/teach me so much, and it has changed the way I teach my class. I sought out sources about LBGTQ+ people from across history, and make sure LBGTQ+ voices and people are clearly present in my classes. I included a new source for spring semester about trans people in the 1830s and 40s, written by Jen Manion (Female Husbands - pretty excited about this!). I didn't realize what was missing in my class (which is difficult for me to admit, but there it is). Your work showed me what I didn't know I didn't know, and my class is better and more inclusive because of it. I also learned (and continue to learn) how to be more thoughtful, aware, and compassionate from you, which also makes me a better professor. I am so grateful for your work. Thank you, Charlotte. I look forward to learning from you on this platform as well!
Dearest Charlotte, from one trans person to another - it is so deeply satisfying to see you so supported in your work. I've been following you for at least a year, probably more and always am delighted by finding a new gem of yours to dive into. I'm proud of you, dear lady; proud to support you! Keep on going!
You have become the first person I read in the morning; the one I trust most to blend humor, facts, insight, and a wicked smart + compassionate perspective that helps me frame the coming day with a bit of optimism and thoughtfulness. I think you are the loveliest person on Twitter most days and I’m grateful to have discovered you. Thank you for all you’ve shared — I’m so jazzed that you’re doing this!!
"I have very little idea what I'm doing, so this should be fun" would be the great beginning of a novel.
