We should not cushion the facts or couch the conduct as comparable. We must chaise the truth and never settle for politicians who think they are divan.

Sofa, I also don't understand why we aren't calling it a love seat.

Similarly, Vance has blamed Democrats for inspiring the assassination attempt on Trump. "They even tried to kill him," he said a week ago despite there being no evidence to support his claim. Traditional media doesn't seem concerned about these lies, which could provoke further violence.

Well done Charlotte. You have the gift of inviting someone to go to hell in such a way they look forward to the trip. You are an honest and thoughtful voice, calling to task cruel, vindictive and assholian people. Oh and your dry Texas humor is much appreciated. 🤣🤣 Oh…and LFG!!!

It’s a stunning phenomenon when people we don’t trust say something derogatory about something or someone we don’t know anything about and we believe it. If we have no internal narrative about it, we believe the first thing we hear? It was a shock to me to hear people who should have known better assume Kehlif is a trans woman. We need more critical thinking and we need louder voices to defend dangerous rhetoric. Since Obama was president I’ve hoped for more courageous political pundits. Thank you for this piece, Charlotte.

Exactly this: The silence of people like Mr. Tapper and Ms. McArdle and Mr. Hart—knowing full well that what he was claiming is false and dangerous—speaks to an increasingly destabilizing double standard in American media. For some, journalistic integrity seems to be highly contingent on the degree to which their access is threatened.

Thank you for this. I'm so so so tired of conservative men who claim, "oh we're protecting women by making sure trans women can't do, "sport" with cis women, and that makes us heroes." And god forbid that a trans woman may use a public bathroom! Scary! Can't have that. And yet, and yet, if a woman is dying in a car outside of the ER that can't legally treat their miscarriages or their ectopic pregnancies? Oh, well, that's just fine. Just fine with them. And if women are mowed down by a mass shooter with an AR 15 in a supermarket? That's fine too. But by all means, let's go crazy over women boxing! Can't have that. I am so glad we seem at last to be witnessing the downfall of that mindset. Thank god for Gen Z.

The right wants inequality of opportunity and no rule of law for most people. Remember, not so long ago it was a crime to teach a slave to read and women could not go to university. XX is female, until the right decides it is not.
