Not long ago the Emhoff kids were being interviewed and they had nothing but praise for their, "Momala".

The GOP is grasping at straws. Look at how contrasting the characters are for the possible ballot choices, literally Good vs Horrible.

I'm poor and have already made my pidly donation but I stand firmly in my ability and desire to talk with people about what's at stake in November. It's like winning a Gold Medal when I can show a voter facts versus the untrue, unrealized promises of the GOP.

I never given birth. I have had dogs who were my kids. I loved those dogs, and miss them immensely. My ex husband was the adult child of alcoholics and did not want kids. By the time we'd divorced and I had remarried, I had been out of the idea of motherhood long enough not to even consider it. Frankly, I think I would have sucked at it, which is one of the reasons I didn't try. I am now an old woman, and yes, there are days I wonder what it would be like to have had children, but my life has been wonderful. As a military spouse, I've traveled the world, had more careers than I could ever have imagined, and worked in the non-profit world after we left the Air Force life. I think I've done my part. Why should my life have less value because I didn't raise a human?

Charlotte, This childless cat lady firmly believes that the world (and its children) would be better off if having children were universally and unquestioningly understood to be the province of people who truly want children.

Apparently, according to JD Vance, if a woman becomes pregnant because of rape or incest it's an inconvenience. She must be forced to carry the fetus to birth and, she can give it up for adoption if she wants to. However, anyone who adopts that child is not a valued person because the child was adopted? Stepmothers have no value according to Vance. The sad truth of the matter is that Vance is a misogynist whose views fit right into the Republican Party. He, and many others, truly believe they are superior because they're male. Vote Blue, up and down the ballot.

Love you, Charlotte, and I, too, wish for 'Mayor Pete' on the ticket. My formerly Republican hubby does too! I want to be able to vote for more good people, having finally gotten the trifecta in Michigan. I think the entire country deserves leadership like ours and I'll work to make it a reality as long as I'm alive.

Amen sister. I too would love to see her choose Pete, but she seems to have narrowed it down to a very strong group.

The republican party only cares about women if they produce children and care for men. Full stop.

Thank you for your smart, kind, supportive, important, and timely words! I have loved reading your posts for quite some time, but finally became a paid subscriber today. You represent so many different groups of Americans, but also proudly support the rights of EVERY American. I hate that so many posts about motherhood mention that they gave birth to their child(ren), when so many mothers never give birth. I get to raise my son because another woman made the sacrifice to have someone else to raise him and chose my husband and I. It doesn't make me, or her, any less of a mother, or make either of us less important because I didn't carry him in my body for 9 months or she isn't doing the day-to-day job of taking care of him. Thank you.
