Regarding the political media, we are in a post truth environment. The liberal media, while not as bad as the conservatives, are guilty of this as well. Everyone plays "gotcha" about the other side. This results in very little actual reporting. Also, these politicians don't do press conferences anymore. Why participate in an.opportunity to put your foot in your mouth.
Great summary of the lies. MSM needs to call this bullshit out. At the very least they can include the truth when they write up these comments and there needs to be a call for proof. If a politician comments that a constituent "told" them a homophobic story point out that the "story" is homophobic and a sample of one which is statistically irrelevant. Reporters should also check out the politician's donors. Are donations coming in from homophobic groups? More truth and more honesty is needed, especially since that's what journalism is supposed to be about.
Substitute African American for LGBTQI and in nearly every instance you have the same trope. I can only assume that the game is replayed because those who seek money & power benefit from it - the media, evangelical “Christians”, right-wing ideologues, Republicans and the institutions & businesses that support them, the middle and lower classes because they need someone beneath them, and on and on. Everyone plays a role and no one seems willing to change the narrative. It makes my blood boil.
Once upon a time, left handedness was considered wrong. Amazing how badly we treated those who nature told to use their left hand. Then, when we figured out we were wrong, about 10 percent of the population got to be who nature told them they were. Wish we could get there faster for the LGBTQ community.
They like to freak out about trans women in sports, but the real threat is people like Nassar (and others like him) who abused young athletes repeatedly while the institution and powers that be looked the other way.
